ED FRINGE 2024 REVIEW: TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN

TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN

It’s very difficult to speak about the plot in this review, because the truth is, there really isn’t one. In what seems like three different timelines, three groups of performers perform their own scene, whilst everyone else in the company, when not in their scene, enter the stage with glum faces, and a lack of confidence, as they lift their peers, and are distracted by checking out who is in the audience. There’s a lack of coherent storytelling, and the direction isn’t any better; when ensemble come on stage, they really serve no purpose, and we spend more time scratching our heads, wondering what we’ve just witnessed, then actually being able to focus on the lacklustre writing. More GCSE Drama than a show fit for the fringe, sadly.
